Terms of use
Last updated: 7 October 2026
These terms apply to the Oncebook service (the iPhone app, the shared family page and the related web pages). By registering you accept them. Please also read the privacy policy.
1. Provider (imprint)
- Name
- Szentiványi András Szilveszter e.v.
- Registered address
- 2800 Tatabánya, Előd vezér utca 18.
- Sole trader registration no.
- 56933738
- Tax number
- 58441406-1-31
- [email protected]
- Hosting provider
- Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, [email protected]
2. The service
Oncebook is a private family memory journal. Parents and invited family members can keep a timeline of memories (photos, videos, short texts) for each child, and share it on a password-protected web page, for example with grandparents. It is not a social network: content is not public; only the family's members and the people the family owner gives the shared page's link and password to can see it.
3. The contract
The contract between you and the provider is concluded when you register and accept these terms, for an indefinite period. It is concluded electronically, is not a written contract, is not filed, and its language is Hungarian (this English version is for information). Before sending your registration you can check and correct your details in the app. We have not subscribed to any code of conduct. The version of the terms you accepted is recorded with your account.
4. Account
- The service is for adults aged 18 or over.
- Use your real name and your own working email address, and keep your password secret. You are responsible for activity in your account.
- An account belongs to one family at a time. Whoever creates a family is its owner; others can join as members with an invite.
- The owner decides on the family name, the shared page, invites and members. Members can create, edit and delete children, memories, photos and videos just like the owner.
5. Subscription, trial and fees
- After registering you can try the service free for 14 days.
- After that, uploading and the shared page require a subscription. A subscription is per family; the owner's subscription covers every member. It includes 10 GB of storage per family.
- Subscriptions are bought in the App Store through Apple In-App Purchase. The App Store shows the price and period before you buy. Apple charges the payment method of your Apple ID.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. If you start a free trial through the App Store, it turns into a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before.
- You can manage and cancel the subscription on your iPhone in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or in your App Store account settings. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel your Apple subscription.
- Purchases, renewals and refunds are also governed by Apple's terms, including Apple's Standard EULA. Refunds are requested from Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com).
- If the subscription ends, you cannot upload new content and the shared page is unavailable, but your existing data stays: you can view, download and delete it.
- We announce price changes in advance, following the App Store's rules.
6. Your content
- The photos, videos and texts you upload remain yours, or belong to whoever holds the rights. We acquire no ownership in them.
- To run the service you give us a non-exclusive, free licence, for as long as you use the service, to store the content, process it technically (for example store preview images) and show it to you, your family members and the people you share it with. We use it for nothing else: we publish nothing, use nothing for advertising, and do not train artificial intelligence with it. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account (removal from backups takes at most 30 days).
- Content added to a family belongs to that family: if a member leaves, is removed or deletes their account, the content they added stays with the family and the family owner controls it. If the owner deletes their account, all of the family's content is deleted.
- You are responsible for having the right to upload content. As a parent (legal guardian) you may upload pictures of your child; if anyone else appears, you need their consent (or, for a minor, their parent's).
- We recommend keeping your own copies of important photos and videos. You can download your data in the app at any time.
7. Prohibited content and use
You must not upload or share content, or use the service in a way, that:
- is illegal, in particular child sexual abuse material (we remove it immediately and report it to the authorities);
- infringes other people's personality rights, image rights, privacy or copyright;
- harasses, intimidates, incites hatred or violence;
- contains malicious code or threatens the security of the service or other people's data (for example trying to access another account, circumventing limits, overloading the service);
- uses the service for something other than keeping family memories, for example for business or as general file storage.
You can report illegal content to [email protected]; this is also our single point of contact for authorities and users (Articles 11 and 12 of the EU Digital Services Act, Regulation (EU) 2022/2065). Tell us which content it is and why it is illegal. We look into reports promptly; we may remove or disable illegal content and will tell the affected user why, and they can contest the decision with us.
8. The shared page
- The family owner can turn on the shared page and decides who gets the link and password. The owner is responsible for passing them on.
- Anyone who knows the link and password can see the family's children and memories. Visitors can save or photograph what they see; we cannot prevent this.
- You can change the password or turn sharing off at any time; turning it off permanently disables the old link. The page is unavailable while the subscription has ended.
9. Availability
We aim to keep the service available at all times, but it may be interrupted for maintenance, because of errors, or for reasons outside our control (for example an outage of our hosting or storage provider). Where possible we announce planned maintenance in advance.
10. Liability
- We provide the service with the care that can be expected of us.
- We are not liable for content uploaded by users, for consequences of passing on the shared page's link and password, or for damage caused by circumstances outside our control (force majeure, failure of a third-party service, problems with your device or internet connection).
- To the extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the fees actually paid for the service in the previous 12 months.
- This limitation does not apply to liability for intentional breach or for damage to life, physical integrity or health (Hungarian Civil Code, section 6:152), and does not restrict the statutory rights of consumers, including your conformity rights for digital services (Hungarian Civil Code and Government Decree 373/2021 (VI. 30.)).
11. Termination
- You can delete your account in the app at any time. Deletion is immediate and permanent (see the privacy policy for details). You may want to download your data first. Your Apple subscription must be cancelled separately.
- As a member you can leave the family at any time; you then get an empty family of your own, but the free trial does not restart. The owner can remove a member at any time with the same result.
- If you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, we may suspend or close your account. We will tell you in advance, with the reason, and give you a chance to download your data, unless the law or the nature of the breach (for example child abuse material) requires immediate action.
- If we discontinue the service, we will tell you at least 60 days in advance so you can download your data.
12. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for good reason (for example a change in the law or a new feature). We will tell you about material changes at least 15 days in advance in the app or by email. If you do not accept a change, you can delete your account before it takes effect; if you keep using the service afterwards, the change is considered accepted. For some changes we may ask you to accept them separately in the app. The current version is always on this page. Version: 2026-10-07.
13. Complaints and consumer rights
- Send complaints to [email protected]. We answer written complaints in writing, on the merits, within 30 days (Hungarian Consumer Protection Act CLV of 1997, section 17/A).
- If we cannot resolve your complaint, as a consumer you can turn to the conciliation body (békéltető testület) competent for your place of residence (they are run by the regional chambers of commerce), or start a consumer protection procedure at the government office of your place of residence.
- Withdrawal and refund requests for subscriptions bought through the App Store are handled by Apple under its own terms.
14. Governing law and disputes
The contract is governed by Hungarian law. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country. Disputes are decided by the court competent under Hungarian civil procedure; as a consumer you can also sue before the court of your place of residence.
